Jenna Coleman is back on TV screens in new BBC mystery thriller The Jetty. The Blackpool-born actress plays a detective uncovering dark secrets in her Lancashire town.

"When I was 16 or 17, we went to Edinburgh to perform for three weeks and it was just like working as an actor before I was an actor. We stayed in flats, we’d drum up an audience by handing out flyers in the streets."
First big role in Emmerdale At 19, Jenna was offered a role on Emmerdale as Jasmine Thomas. She stayed for five years and has spoken of how she had decided to leave - then her storylines began hotting up. She recalled: "I had about six months where I wasn't doing very much on a day-to-day basis, just going into the pub and sat having a chat. So that's when I decided to leave, and that's when I ended up getting storylines.
London, LA and Doctor Who After Emmerdale, Jenna played school girl Lindsay James in the BBC drama Waterloo Road. She moved to London, worked in a bar and started an Open University degree in English before deciding to try her luck on the audition scene in Los Angeles during pilot season. Life in the Tardis as Clara In 2012 Jenna began playing new Doctor Who companion Clara Oswald after previously appearing in a one-off role in the show. She left in 2015, tempted away by the prospect of new challenges and the title role in ITV's Victoria.
