The Montreal International Auto Show has acquired its upstart rival the Montreal Electric Vehicle Show , consolidating its position as the province’s lead promoter of auto events, as electric vehicles take on a more prominent role in the industry. MEVS was first held in 2017 and grew to attract more than 30,000 attendees at the most recent edition of the show held at Montreal Olympic Stadium in April.

MIAS Executive Vice-President Denis Dessureault said the acquisition of the smaller show “allows us to leverage our expertise and expand our offerings.” “It was imperative for our organization to consolidate our leadership role in the greater Montreal area.” Both shows will remain “distinct events” in the short and medium term, MIAS said. And despite the change of ownership, the promoter said it will “do everything possible” to preserve the “essence” of MEVS.

MEVS was held at the Montreal Olympic Stadium in previous years, but will shift to Stade IGA in Parc Jarry for 2025 because of construction at the aging venue. Doors will open for the three-day event May 2.
