Natalie Portman’s new film Vox Lux is the latest to convey the genre as empty and miserable, while country, rock and rap are revered

“In 2011, Celeste had drunk herself blind … during a stint of binge-drinking household cleaning products.” So states Willem Dafoe’s narrator in the final act of Vox Lux, the new Natalie Portman-starring film about a globe-straddling pop star. Rather than the glitz of stardom, this is a film that lurks in the dark underbelly of the pop world.

because it stinks?

Since when rap is revered? It was always treated with disdain because it was created by and for Black people.

Because it sucks.

Relocated from urban metro to rural SW Virginia. Country music rules life & locals are generally uneducated with meth addiction, alcoholism, poverty, child abuse, rotten teeth, female obesity, trailer park squalor, pickups, rusted out cars define life here. Country wholesome? NO.

Why doesn't everyone hate pop music

A Star is born really sucked ass .... Cooper walked around with tampons in his mouth to sound drunk but instead he sounded vocally impaired Gagga sings him two lines of her song Shallow in a parking lot Next moment they perform the entire song in front of a crowd

Because modern pop can't be compared to music. It's all auto-tuned and sounds exactly the same. There are algorithms that can reliably predict what pop songs will become hits. Most pop songs are written by the same two blokes

Wait I was told Beyoncé was some sort of deity and the greatest musical talent formed out of the void ( as someone so great could not be born by human means) what changed?
