Collingwood’s Friday night has gone from bad to worse with ruckman Darcy Cameron taken to hospital after their defeat to Essendon. 7NEWS understands the 28-year-old premiership player will be assessed for potential cracked ribs and any internal damage. Cameron had been monitored during the week following a heavy hit at training. He was given the all clear to face the Bombers and copped a fresh knock in the second half, spending some time off the bench at crucial moments before returning briefly.
Petracca was in agony but initially returned to the field, only to be taken to hospital while the game was still underway. Meanwhile, Cameron’s trip to hospital on Friday night came after teammate Brody Mihocek suffered a suspected torn pectoral muscle that is likely to end his season. Mihocek will undergo scans but Collingwood expect the 31-year-old will need to undergo surgery. “As we always do we love and support, we get around our players and rally together,” coach Craig McRae said.
