The once-youngest member of the House of Commons will continue representing the constituency

The Nottingham East constituency has been retained by Nadia Whittome for the Labour Party, scoring 19,494 votes. Ms Whittome beat seven other candidates, with her closest opponent being Rosey Palmer, of the Green Party, with 4,332.

The constituency has returned a Labour MP at every election since 1992, although for a brief period was held by Change UK, following Chris Leslie’s defection in February 2019. Ms Whittome was first elected in 2019 with a majority of 17,393. After leaving the stage to a round of applause she said: “I’m feeling fantastic. Brilliant result nationally. I’m very happy with the results we’ve had in Nottingham. We’ve said goodbye to 14 years of cruelty and chaos under the Conservatives."

When asked about her priorities following re-election, Ms Whittome said: "I will fight tooth and nail to make sure Nottingham gets the funding it deserves for our council. I’ll be fighting to scale up pledges and to address the very pressing issues our city faces.Aged only 23 of the time, she was the youngest member of the House of Commons until July 2023.

Liberal Democrat candidate Robert Swift secured 4.9 per cent of the votes, and incumbent Chris Leslie secured 1,447 voters.
