This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available. Summary Netflix and Studio Orange's upcoming sci-fi mecha anime Leviathan will feature music by none other than the famous Ghibli movie composer Joe Hisaishi.

According to a post on X by MangaMoguraRE, Joe Hisaishi has composed five original tracks for Netflix's upcoming anime Leviathan. The series is expected to be released in 2025 exclusively on Netflix and has been produced by Qubic Pictures and animated by Studio Orange, the latter of which is best known for hit anime like Trigun Stampede and Beastars.

Besides the five tracks contributed by Joe Hisaishi, Leviathan will also feature music by Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi, both of whom have most notably composed the soundtracks for Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045 and Makoto Shinkai's latest hit movie Suzume. Joe Hisashi to Compose Five Tracks for Netflix's Upcoming Anime Leviathan Hisaishi's Music and Style Perfectly Fit Leviathan's Setting and Premise Leviathan is an alternate history story set in 1914 Europe just before the outbreak of World War I and centers around a girl dressed as a boy and a prince who cross paths on the titular airship called the Leviathan when they join the Royal Naval Air Service. The upcoming anime plans to adapt the entire 2009 trilogy.

As Joe Hisaishi's music is often associated with Ghibli's fantastical films, his involvement in Leviathan may come as a surprise at first. However, the series is arguably right up Hisaishi's alley considering he has previously scored sci-fi series like Mospeada, Robot Carnival, and two of the Mobile Suit Gundam movies.
