From Dakota Johnson to Anne Hathaway, we take a look at some of the best celebrity curtain bangs for summer and beyond.

Curtain bangs. They’re an eternally popular hairstyle for a reason: not only do they flatter every face shape, they’re also a low-commitment way to add a face-framing detail to your current hair look. Curtain bangs are as popular now – searches for how to style them are have gone up by over 5,000 per cent on Google in the last month – as they were in the ’70s, when they were a favourite of stars like Goldie Hawn and Stevie Nicks.

Today’s devoted fringe fans include celebrities from Dakota Johnson and Mia Goth to Jenna Ortega and British Vogue’s August cover star, Suki Waterhouse. Defined by their undone finish, these bangs generally sweep into the rest of the cut, and are cut slightly shorter in the centre to create a “curtain” effect over the face – the perfect way to elevate eyes and cheekbones. The aim is to achieve “softness and balance around the face”, hairstylist Xavier Velasquez previously told Vogue.
