Alaskan bears are the main stars in a new survival reality show. Peacock’s “The Hungry Games: Alaska’s Big Bear Challenge” focuses on the bears of the Katmai National Park as they get ready for winter hibernation, all through the lens of a playful competition. In TODAY’s exclusive clip, which aired July 3, mama bear Boldface attempts to cross a river with her three young cubs: Bandit, Raccoon and Scamp.
” In “The Hungry Games,” over the course of 150 days, the bears “battle the elements — and each other — using brains and brawn to consume three million calories and gain up to 200 pounds in Nature’s real-life survival show,” the synopsis reads. Unaware that their every move is being filmed to be enjoyed by audiences everywhere, the show tracks the bears' progress while Darby narrates and shares fascinating facts about their behavior.
