As we approach the Fourth of July, it's time to start planning celebrations and, of course, keeping an eye on the weather. Whether you're heading to the Boston Esplanade for the fireworks or celebrating elsewhere, here's what you can expect in terms of weather, humidity, and the chance of thunderstorms.
On Independence Day, a weakening disturbance will approach from the west, bringing the risk for showers and thunderstorms. It will by no means be a wash-out. In fact, a few showers will be possible in the morning following by the chance of a pop-up thunderstorm generally noon to 8pm. After the sun sets, any leftover activity will diminish.
Given the expected warm temperatures and high humidity, it's important to stay hydrated and wear lightweight, breathable clothing if you're heading out for the day. If you plan to enjoy the fireworks at the Esplanade, it's always a good idea to arrive early to secure a good spot. Be prepared for the muggy conditions by bringing plenty of water and perhaps a handheld fan to stay cool.
