Brian Linder | blinder@pennlive.comThe band announced on Instagram that it is preparing to drop its ninth and final album, “Smoke & Fiction,” on August 2. The band also announced its “The End Is Near” tour which is set to begin July 6 and wrap on Oct. 30.

That tour does have a pair of PA stops planned — Sept. 27 in Pittsburgh and Sept. 30 in Philadelphia. X first formed in 1977, and four of the band’s current members — John Doe, Exene Cervenka, Billy Zoom and D.J. Bonebrake have been with them through their entire run.Alan Jackson is retiring. Here’s the list of country music legends saying farewell this year“Been to over 30 shows in LA,” one fan responded. “So glad you are coming to Atlanta now that I’m living here.”“Summer and Christmas just won’t be the same without an X show,” another wrote. “I’m grateful for the memories though.
