An Australian helicopter pilot has died while fighting catastrophic wildfires in Canada’s Northwest Territories. Thomas Frith was killed when the chopper he was flying crashed near Fort Good Hope Airport on June 28. Great Slave Helicopters, the company for which Frith was flying, released a statement announcing his death with “profound sadness”. “It is with profound sadness that we acknowledge the loss of one of our own,” the company said.
“As we navigate this time of sorrow, let us hold on to the memories of Tom — his smile, laughter, the love, and the countless ways he made our lives better,” they said. “His legacy will live on in his beautiful young family and the hearts of all who knew him. “Our heartfelt condolences to Tom’s wife, children, parents, brothers and all extended family.” The Queensland man had been living in Yellowknife, Canada, with his wife and children for a number of years.
