) - The Saraland Spartans have been hard at work with less than two months until kick off in week one. As they hit that midway point in summer practices, Jeff Kelly who heads into his 14th season as head coach, says his guys are looking really good going into July.
Saraland is coming off a deep playoff run in 2023, falling just short to Clay-Chalkville in the state championship game, but these players aren’t looking back. Their focus is on week one, when they welcome the 4A region 1 champion Jackson Aggies to Spartan Stadium. The Spartans have gone an impressive 28-2 over the last two seasons. Kelly says they have a good mix of returning guys combined with others that are eager for the opportunity to show what they’ve got.
One of those returning players is Texas quarterback commit KJ Lacey. We won’t see Ryan Williams catching Lacey’s passes this fall but there’s no shortage of talent on the Spartans offense.
