Tributes are flowing after the death of one of rugby league’s toughest ever players, Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs’ cult hero Geoff Robinson. Robinson — who battled throat and tongue cancer for a number of years — is thought to have died from a heart attack. The former forward and fan favourite was aged 66. “A very very sad day indeed .
Robinson’s trademark shoulder-length black hair would fly as he charged into defenders and made crunching tackles for the Bulldogs between 1977 and 1984, before returning for a short stint in 1986. His courage endeared him to fans who used to chant his name during games. Another fan recalled: “My all time fav Bulldog! Seeing him play was something else and when the chant went up from the crowd, ‘Robbo!, ‘Robbo’! he never disappointed.
