The film was first announced last year, but it was recently revealed that the Phillippou brothers - the Australian pair who had a big hit with horror film ’Talk to Me’ last year - had left the project, partly due to scheduling issues. A new director has not yet been announced, nor has the cast or any details of the plot. It seems like spring 2026 will be a busy time for video game adaptations, however; the sequel to the hugely successful ’Super Mario Bros.
