Melbourne youngster Koltyn Tholstrup is under fire for appearing to stage for a free kick, just a week after his teammate Steven May was fined for the same thing. The 2023 AFL draftee drew a downfield free kick when he hit the ground after being collected by Brisbane veteran Dayne Zorko while kicking the ball inside 50 during the third quarter on Friday night.
Koltyn Tholstrup under fire for appearing to stage. Tholstrup stayed down on the ground for an extended moment, only getting up when an incredulous Zorko dragged him back up. To the naked eye, it appeared a clear free kick, giving Bayley Fritsch a shot at goal that was sprayed wide. But on replay, it appeared clear that Tholstrup’s dramatic reaction to the hit didn’t match the force with which it was executed.
