The arepjitas are deconstructed Venezuelan arepas served fajita style on a sizzling platter. Pockets of delicate but sturdy cornmeal come with proteins like al pastor and Jamaican jerk chicken plus cilantro, onion, Honduran crema and salsa. Think build-your-own tacos but arepas instead. Rause said much trial and error went into creating the cornmeal pockets, which resemble arepas but have the architectural integrity of pita.

Take the Colada Nueva: It’s a “see-through” version of a piña colada that resembles the tropical drink in flavor only. Made with cream sherry and hints of pineapple and coconut, it tastes strikingly similar to the blended drink but looks more like an old fashioned than anything that would be topped with a paper umbrella.
