The mother of missing Irish girl Amy Fitzpatrick has reached out to the family of missing British teen, Jay Slater, to offer her support and advice. The search continues for Jay who disappeared in Tenerife 10 days ago.
Her first piece of advice to Jay’s parents is not to share their personal phone numbers or email addresses as part of the search for their missing son. “You really don’t need that. Still to this day, I will get bad comments but I just don’t read them anymore. I have friends begging me, asking to reply to the comments, but I tell them not to, that’s what they want – just ignore them.” Audrey said her family had made a mistake by “spilling our guts out to anybody and everybody” following Amy’s disappearance, which she now says was “the wrong thing to do”.
“It’s a terrible thing. You should be able to just tell the truth, show a picture, and people will reach out and not criticise or judge. But that’s what people do, especially nowadays with the computer and phones. They hide behind them and don’t face you and say these things.”
