A man who abducted his ex-lover and buried her alive in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges has had his non-parole period extended by more than five years. Tarikjot Singh was serving life in prison, with a non-parole period of almost 23 years, for murdering 21-year-old Jasmeen Kaur in March 2021. Kaur, an aged care worker and nursing student, was abducted from her workplace, bound and buried at Moralana Creek near Hawker.
Their relationship ended about three months before her death, but Singh had refused to accept it was over and continued to contact her and her family, the court heard. In February that year, he was issued with a police caution for stalking. The judge said he was satisfied the murder was the result of Singh wanting to punish Kaur for ending their relationship and for going to police.
