Actor Bill Cobbs, who was known for his roles in movies including The Bodyguard and Night at the Museum, and TV series The Sopranos, has died aged 90 it has been announced.
According to his brother Thomas, who broke the news on Wednesday via Facebook, Bill died on Tuesday 25 June. Bill was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1934 and served in the US Air Force as a radar technician before working in offices and selling cars. In 1970, when he was 36, he went to New York to find work as an actor and won his first roles on stage before making his feature film debut in the cult movie The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 in 1974 alongside Walter Matthau and Robert Shaw.
After that movie was a huge hit, Bill went on to appear in sci-fi action movie Demolition Man with Sylvester Stallone, Coen Brothers' movie The Hudsucker Proxy with Paul Newman and Tim Robbins, and Tom Hanks' directorial debut, That Thing You Do! about a 1960s pop band, where he played a fictional legendary jazz musician.
