Britain’s biggest music festival, Glastonbury, has officially kicked off its 2024 edition! Scheduled for 26th to 30th June, the renowned music festival will feature Dua Lipa, Coldplay, SZA and Shania Twain as headlining acts. However, the K-pop industry has its eyes set on the popular boy band SEVENTEEN as they prepare to make history as the first K-pop act to perform on the festival’s main stage.
The 13-member group will perform on the main stage, the Pyramid Stage, on 28th June , alongside Dua Lipa and American rock collective LCD Soundsystem. Given that the group is the first K-pop act to attend the iconic event, it’s no surprise that the announcement was met with tons of enthusiasm from CARATs , with many calling it another achievement for the group. The group recently spoke with NME to share their thoughts about their upcoming performance.
Youngest member Dino also talked about the group’s desire to appeal to an unfamiliar crowd, comparing it to the experience of performing for only their fans. He said, “Obviously, it’s super enjoyable to share the experience with our fans, but it’s also very exciting to showcase ourselves to people who might be less familiar. It makes us want to bring out an even more intense performance.”
When asked how SEVENTEEN will attract attention at the festival, the group’s dancer, Jun , said they’ll use their size to their advantage. The Chinese-born member said those who don't know the group will likely be taken back by how many members are in the group. However, he adds, “I think we can leverage that to show a very special appeal that only we have as a team, as three units , and as individual members, so we’ll try to blow their minds with this weapon that we have.
