A NSW driver allegedly caught speeding 50km/h over the limit with his three-year-old daughter unrestrained in the car claimed he was “only going to Maccas”. The 33-year-old was spotted by police allegedly travelling at 132km/h along Windsor Rd, Vineyard, in Sydney’s Hills District, on Tuesday night. Police who pulled over the Toyota Camry have alleged the driver was travelling with his three-year-old daughter, who did not have her seatbelt fastened correctly and was not restrained in her seat.
His partner was in the front passenger seat. Asked about his alleged speeding in a 80km/h zone, the driver replied: “I thought I was only doing 100. I was only going to Maccas.” “Clearly the driver had neglected the safety of his family on this trip and his arrival time at McDonald’s was more pressing,” NSW Police said. The man’s licence was suspended for six months.
