The Killing Eve actress plays an outlaw in her latest film, The Bikeriders.

where Jodie Comer’s character, Kathy, walks into a noisy Chicago bar to meet her friend. It’s late at night and the room is bristling with members of the fictional outlaw bikie gang, the Vandals. “I never felt so out of place in all my life,” she says.

“The brilliant thing about Kathy is because she’s an outlaw, from being married to Benny, she is still on the peripheral. And she’s a woman. So she has a completely different perspective and is able to see things for what they really are. Whereas the guys are so consumed by the world and the image and what it stands for, and who they are as men within this world. So I think allows the story to be told in a very different light.

About 70 per cent of the dialogue comes directly from the book, while some of the film’s scenes are startling shot-for-shot re-creations of Lyon’s photos. Lyon only ever took one photo of Kathy but he spent a lot of time talking to her, calling her the “best storyteller” for her candid and beautifully frank descriptions of life with Benny.
