CLEVELAND, Ohio – Activism, advocacy and entrepreneurial spirit were the impetus for Love Muffin Records, a label started in 1994 by Cleveland musician Adam Rich. The bass player recorded a four-song demo on a Tascam Portastudio in his basement a couple years before and decided to build a local record label around it.
In 2007, Adam produced his first “LoveMuffinPalooza” concert at the Hi-Fi in Lakewood as a local showcase. When one of Rich’s cousins passed away from cancer a few years later, he added a raffle to benefit a cancer-support non-profit organization.Last chance to vote for Cleveland’s Cutest Adopted Cat , with the next one coming in August: “It always makes me happy to go to The Gathering Place’s Beachwood location after the ‘Palooza and give them what the event has raised,” Rich said.
Love Muffin Records’ 30th Anniversary Concert takes place Sunday, June 30 at the Beachland Ballroom, 15711 Waterloo Rd., Cleveland. 216-383-1124,
