The New Braunfels City Council on Monday gave initial approval to $3 million in tax breaks for a proposed $18 million Topgolf facility in its Creekside Town Center commercial area east of Interstate 35. The council unanimously passed the resolution on first reading following a public hearing on Monday night, approving millions in tax breaks for the golf-centric entertainment company.

New Braunfels council OKs funding to buy downtown headquarters from NBU Topgolf has been in talks to build in the Hill Country city since 2019, according to a report written by city staff. If built, the new location would be about 30 miles from another one on San Antonio’s Northwest Side and about 50 miles south of a location in Austin.
