Namesake designer Steve Hsieh’s spring collection pushed the boundaries of the line rooted in basketball to a level more sartorial than sport.
The Taiwanese designer also looked to his family’s history in the fishing business. He took the workaday basketball short and blended it into a new take on the traditional sarong wrap with clever draping, while jackets had unique shapes inspired by sails that were an exercise in creating volume and movement without heft.
Blazers adopted Eastern elements with fluid sleeves and collarless shapes, and traditional puffer toppers were shrunken down into new proportions. A traditional sailor jacket shape was reinterpreted with pleating at the back seams, while gathering on a zip jacket created structural, origami-style folds for two looks on women.
