It's no secret that Fox's X-Men film franchise was a monumental moment in superhero cinema, setting the bar for present-day comic book stories. Well, the earlier films, anyway. And while many were drawn to the first-gen cast of X-Men, the studio eventually changed it up and opted to partially reboot the franchise with prequel stories that felt very much separated — until it wasn't.
