The Brooklyn rock band Diiv played almost every song on their new album, “Frog in Boiling Water,” on Thursday night at the Aztec Theatre. That wasn’t unexpected. The surprising part is that every song was accompanied by a lyric video playing on a screen behind the band, which sometimes performed on a darkened stage. Big concerts coming to San Antonio The videos made perfect sense for a band that pushes loud guitars to the forefront but doesn’t want its fans to miss the words in the swell of noise. Diiv is usually categorized as a shoegaze band, a style characterized by highly amplified and processed guitars. Lyrics, sometimes murmured or softly sung, are often enveloped in the music like a surfer disappearing into the barrel of a wave.
