The duo — who were known as the YouTube duo RackaRacka prior to directing the hit A24 horror film Talk to Me — were tapped to direct a film adaptation based on the legendary fighting game franchise last year, and even spoke about the project as recently as last July., the pair are no longer working on the project due to scheduling issues.
The fighting game franchise is no stranger to adaptations, however. In 1994, a film based on the title was released starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Raul Julia, and Ming-Na Wen. Since then, there have been other animated shows and live-action spin-offs, like the 2009 film Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li and 2014 web series Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist.
