A boy has been charged and another is on the run after an axe was used to smash through the window of a supermarket in Adelaide. Security measures ultimately stopped the suspects from leaving with anything, but staff at Drakes Supermarket in North Haven were met with a costly mess on Monday morning.
Teenager arrested following axe break-in at supermarket. One of the offenders tried to force open a cigarette cabinet but realised there was no way in and fled empty-handed with his mate, who was waiting outside. The incident played out about 12.30am. Drakes Supermarket boss John-Paul Drake, who dubbed the pair the “tomahawk bandits”, said crime at his stores has surged 38 per cent already this year. “The reality is we have hundreds of cameras in every store.
