There was once a time when Billy Corgan would have thumbed his nose at the idea of a nostalgia-tinged tour such as their Thursday night show at Co-op Live; the frontman and only consistent member of The Smashing Pumpkins has always been one to look forward rather than backwards, often confounding audiences by leaning on newer material and being stingy with the hits.

The band play noisily, pointedly; there is almost a punk rock energy to proceedings, with the group re-energised by the arrival of new guitarist Kiki Wong, playing just her fourth show with them tonight.
