Concert Photos: Styx, John Waite and Foreigner Hit Blossom on the"Renegades and Juke Box Heroes Tour" The nine-song set blended material from Bad English, The Babys and Waite’s solo career, including “Change,” “Missing You,” “Everytime I Think Of You,” Head First,” “Back On My Feet Again” and closed with Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.”
Even with lineup changes, Styx still has the power, punch, and shine of the '70s and '80s. Lawrence Gowan has been in the band for 25 years, longer than predecessor Dennis De Young. His voice fits perfectly into their classic tracks. Gowan’s brother Terry recently slid into the role of bassist for his first tour with the band. Original bassist Chuck Panozzo, who has been living with HIV for more than 30 years, came out and joined the band for a heartfelt version of “Lady.
Foreigner features no original or legacy members and are basically a tribute band, with all current members joining in the 2000s. Calling their tour the “Juke Box Heroes” tour is a bit disingenuous, since nobody in the band was part of the writing and recording of the band’s long list of jukebox favorites. The band does sound great. Many in the audience were probably unaware that no original members or songwriters of their classic songs were on the stage.
Foreigner’s photo agreement required copyright of all photos to be turned over to the band, giving them full control to license and sell my photos for no compensation. I chose not to sign this agreement, which is why only John Waite and Styx photos are included in this photo gallery.Photo by Joe KleonPhoto by Joe KleonPhoto by Joe KleonPhoto by Joe KleonPhoto by Joe Kleon
