Falkirk was among the top performing Scottish councils for numeracy and literacy in 2022/23, while the percentage of pupils moving on to positive destinations is rising.
Looking back on the results from 2022-23, however, he was particularly pleased to see that more pupils than ever in Falkirk had moved on to 'positive destinations' when they left school. The figures in the end of year report for 22/23 also show the attainment gap narrowing once again after the negative impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The report highlighted a slight move away from pupils going on to Higher or Further Education and instead going into paid work, Ms Jay said was "most certainly influenced by continued economic austerity and the impact of the pandemic". He said: "This is a positive report that reflects the dedication of our teams, the talents and achievements of our young people and shows that sustainable progress is being achieved and will continue to be achieved because of the ethos and culture that exists in all parts of our education system."
