Season 24 of BBC's Escape to the Country has taken viewers to locations including Pembrokeshire, Northumbria, the Scottish Lothians, Lincolnshire, the Peak District, and the Welsh Borders.
Pauline and David, from High Wycombe, were eager to relocate to West Wales in 2018. They had a budget of £325,000 and specific requirements: a garage and workshop for David, and a modern interior with period charm for Pauline. The couple were immediately enchanted by the entire property, from its stunning interiors to the rural views surrounding the charming cottage. It was listed at a pre-Covid pandemic price of £315,000, which Pauline believed was reasonable for such a lovely house.
The couple were totally charmed, especially when they discovered they could snap up additional land and had the funds to do so with the property being a steal at just £300,000. Fast forward to 2022, and the duo returned to Pembrokeshire to find out what unfolded with their Welsh property hunt. David explained: "I think I like to be alone sometimes in a broad sense and so the idea of a countryside one was appealing to me but this is a very quiet area of the village, you're out of the village here and turns out to be just what I wanted, although I didn't know. One thinks you know what you want to move to, but when it comes to the going and the looking, especially the way it's done with escape - it helps you to really find out what it is that you want.
