A Brownsville police officer who performs as a Tejano singer when she is not out doing her patrols is being recognized for her musical talent. Ruby Anne Perez, a patrol officer with the Brownsville Police Department, was named Best Female Entertainer of the Year at the 6th Annual All Star Music Awards in San Antonio, according to a report by KRGV.com. The award was presented last month.

She joined the Brownsville Police Department when she was 20 years old and graduated from the police academy in 2003.
