MELAKA: The Melaka Government has dispatched its officials to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital and Muadzam Shah Hospital in Pahang to assist victims of the accident between a bus and a trailer lorry on Jalan Kuantan-Segamat near Bahau junction on Sunday .

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf said he has tasked state works, infrastructure, public amenities, and transport committee chairman Datuk Hameed Mytheen Kunju Basheer, his political secretary Abdul Hakim Abdul Wahid, and the state Education Department's director Mohammad Ghazali Ahmad with assisting the hospitalised victims and their family members.

"I would also like to extend my condolences to the two Masjid Tanah teachers who had succumbed to their injuries in the accident," he said on Sunday. Ab Rauf said the deceased, Hamzah Ahmad, 60 and Hasnatul Adilah Hassan, 48, were senior teachers of SK Jeram in Masjid Tanah here."Melaka Religious Council will arrange the funeral arrangements for the deceased," he said.Three people were killed in the 1am accident when a bus carrying 39 passengers, including two drivers, went out of control, hit the lorry laden with iron coils, and overturned.

The other 36 injured victims are treated at Muadzam Shah Hospital, Rompin Hospital, and Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital.
