Science centre touts the benefits of going with drone show over traditional fireworks display

While people have traditionally gathered at Science North on Canada Day for a fireworks display, things are going to be different this year.

Drone shows can also be put on with or without fire bans, if one happens to be in place on Canada Day.“This is actually what really one of the key factors that drove us to a drone show, is how correlated it is to STEM, right?” Gauvreau said. “So the amount of technology, the engineering and the math that really goes into putting on a drone show is substantial.”

Science North has received a grant from the City of Greater Sudbury to put on the drone show. Gauvreau said the costs for the drone show are “comparable” to a fireworks display.
