Supercars gun Will Brown is set to make his NASCAR Cup Series debut in the No.33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet when he takes to Sonoma Raceway on Monday . The 26-year-old from Toowoomba announced himself in the first practice session ahead, claiming the third-fastest time to outpace RCR teammates and veteran drivers Austin Dillon and Kyle Busch.
Van Gisbergen, who races full-time in the second-tier Xfinity Series, famously took the chequered flag in Chicago to become the first driver in 60 years to win on their NASCAR debut. It was pretty special what he did there,” Brown said. “Not to take anything away from him but that was a straight track that was something new to those drivers.
