On Wednesday night in downtown Manhattan, the Tribeca Film Festival kicked off its annual event with a screening of Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge–profiling the evolution of DVF and her eponymous brand. While she’s best known for her iconic wrap dress, the documentary unwraps some of the most intimate moments of her life, and focuses on female empowerment, family, and, of course, fashion.
Fabiola noted that she approached DVF in 2017 with the idea of a documentary, and she was quickly shut down. But, with a bit of convincing and years past, the proposition was accepted. “I wanted to share the inspiration that she gave me with the whole world–with women and girls in particular,” said Beracasa Beckman, adding “ is a woman full of contradictions, and she proved that no one could be pigeonholed into a single label.
