Queensland fullback Reece Walsh has shared a sweet moment with his daughter Leila after being knocked out by Blues enforcer Joseph Sua’ali’i during Wednesday night’s State of Origin series opener. Walsh laid motionless on the ground after Sua’ali’i came off the Blues’ defensive line to flatten him with a shoulder hit to the head in an incident that rocked the game just seven minutes in.

Queensland win State of Origin series opener. Sua’ali’i was given a rare Origin send-off and Walsh was immediately ruled out of the remainder of the game, showing Category 1 concussion symptoms. The Blues star can accept a four-game ban with an early plea for the hit, but it was Walsh to whom the crowd’s thoughts were directed as he went straight down into the rooms. Remarkably, Walsh somehow passed his head injury assessment, but played no further part in the game regardless.
