Written and directed by Daniel Kokotajlo, Starve Acre is an unsettling folk horror. It’s based on Andrew Michael Hurley’s 2019 novel of the same name. It’s being distributed by Brainstorm Media, having had a successful festival run.

Evidently, the film aims for a classic folk horror feel, and it looks like it’s pulling it off pretty well, too!When their son starts acting strangely, a couple unwittingly allow dark and sinister forces into their home. This awakens a long-dormant ancient evil rooted deep in rural Yorkshire during the 1970s.
Starve Acre also stars Erin Richards, Sean Gilder, Robert Emms, Roger Barclay, and Maltilda Firth. It’s produced by Tessa Ross, Juliette Howell, Derrin Schlesinger, and Emma Duffy. Soon, Matt Smith and Morfydd Clark will be coming up on the second season of their respective fantasy shows. Smith will be in the new season of House of the Dragon. Clark plays a young Galadriel in Prime Video’s Rings of Power series.Neil became a horror fan from just a nightmare-inducing glimpse of the Ghoulies VHS cover and a book on how to draw ghosts.
