One in 20 Brits meet their partners at BBQs - despite nearly half the population only attending two or three each year. A survey of 2,000 people revealed singletons have been picking up smokin' hot dates alongside grilled bangers and burgers, with 5% finding their future beaus at the parties.
Brits aren't just fair-weather grillers, with a third enjoying BBQs so much they'd still attend one in rainy weather and a fifth committing to hosting one regardless of bad weather. A hardy 8% host regular BBQs regardless of the season. When it comes to frequency, almost half of the population host or attend on average two-three BBQs a year. A third go to five-six a year while an enthusiastic 11% visit six to ten of the foodie shindigs.
According to the study, the majority of Brits spend under £100 on BBQ food. A third manage to host a budget BBQ paying £21-50, while 13% of Brits are comfortable with forking out £101-150 on a single BBQ. When it comes to what reigns supreme on the grill, sausages were crowned as the nation's favourite BBQ staple with 62% people choosing it as their preferred grilling food.
