A 33-year-old man has been charged with murdering his 61-year-old mother, who was found dead in Perth’s southeast. The accused will appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court on Tuesday, charged with one count of murder, West Australian police said. Police responded to reports of a “seriously injured” woman on Gallipoli St at Byford about 7.05pm on Sunday, but the woman was dead when officers arrived.
A 33-year-old man, the son of the victim, allegedly fled the scene in a silver Peugeot. He was travelling north on Great Northern Hwy, north of Bindoon, when he was spotted by officers about 9.15pm. Police began chasing the man after he allegedly failed to pull over. He was eventually stopped by tyre spikes at Bindi Bindi, about 200km north of the alleged crime scene. “The 33-year-old man, who was acting aggressively, challenged police and a Taser was deployed,” police said.
