After a month’s worth of rain drenched Sydney on Saturday, forecasters are warning of another wet week ahead, with rain predicted to blanket the city from Wednesday through to the long weekend. More than 90mm of rain was reported to have fallen over 24 hours across Saturday, with Vivid attractions cancelled and multiple calls to emergency services seeking assistance.
“No significant rainfall is forecast until late Wednesday, when showers and possible storms may return along the coast, with renewed river level rises possible,” The Bureau said in its warning. “The situation is being monitored, and flood warnings will resume if required.” The Bureau moved to La Nina watch on May 14, which is a weather pattern associated with increased probability of wetter conditions over much of Australia, particularly over eastern and northern areas.
