Jazz Thornton’s terrifying ordeal after obsessive stalker travelled across the world to track her down

EXCLUSIVE “Dear Jazz, I just can’t get you off my mind... You have no idea how obsessed I am with you.” It’s one of many unsettling messages Jazz Thornton received in her inbox from an obsessive stalker before he flew across the world to track her down after he found her home address.

“The night that we were at the hotel, he sent a very scary message to my housemate. The message was enough for us to call the police again.” During the ordeal, Jazz was told by police stalking was not an offence in New Zealand. Some behaviours are illegal under the Harassment or Crime acts — but for a stalker to be charged under these acts, they must have intended to cause harm to the victim.
