Ontario’s third largest 2SLGBTQ+ film festival, Queer North, is hitting the screens of Sudbury once again, this year running from June 13-16 at the Indie Cinema.
“Every film that we're bringing to record this year will be a Northern Ontario premiere, we have some world premieres as well,” said Mairs, noting that in addition to these curated films, there are those which will be entered into the Queer North competition. A jury selects the best of the festival, and an award from Queer North qualifies the films to be entered for consideration at the Canadian Screen Awards.
There are also several shorts to be featured throughout the festival, and in several languages, including the “Best of Queer Shorts Open Category” part one and two, but also Best of Queer Shorts - Francophone and Best of Queer Shorts - Spanish/Latin/South American.
