In celebration of Minecraft’s 15th anniversary, Netflix has a new animated series set in its world. This series will be the second adaptation of the hugely popular survival sandbox game known for its blocky textures currently in development, as a movie starring Jack Black is also in the works. The series doesn’t have a release date yet but is said to be coming “soon.
The series will be animated, presumably in the same blocky manner as the game, by studio WildBrain, who has worked on other Netflix projects such as Sonic Prime, Ninjago: Dragons Rising, and Carmen Sandiego. The series will reportedly feature an original story with new characters. A more story-focused approach to Minecraft was previously done by Telltale Games in 2015 with the episodic game Minecraft: Story Mode.
