Four Jetstar cabin crew members have been taken to hospital after being affected by fumes onboard a plane at Cairns airport. The crew, all women, reported symptoms including burning eyes and throat, nausea and headaches about 9.30am on Thursday, the Queensland Ambulance Service said. Jetstar confirmed the reports, saying the crew members, aged in their 20s to 50s, reported an unusual smell and started feeling unwell after the flight, with one woman reported to have collapsed.
Jetstar confirmed that, after disembarking, one crew member felt faint and was supported by another crew member to stop her from falling. “The aircraft will be thoroughly checked by our engineers,” it said. QAS senior operations supervisor Joanne Selby said the women also experienced a “funny taste in their mouths” and became lightheaded before they were treated by two ambulance crews and given oxygen at the scene.
