, Soto has been tapped to helm Universal Pictures’ live-action Just Cause movie, based on Square Enix’s action-adventure video game series. Prior to Soto, a few directors have tried their hand at developing the film adaptation, including Rampage’s Brad Peyton, John Wick creator Derek Kolstad and. The latest iteration of the project is being produced by The Fall Guy team David Leitch and Kelly McCormick through their 87North banner, as part of their first-look deal with Universal Pictures.
The film adaptation will be executive produced by Dan Jevons, with Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg and Timothy I. Stevenson serving as producers for Story Kitchen. Max Jacoby, Ryan Jones and Tony Ducret have been enlisted to oversee the project. Besides the Just Cause movie, Soto is also currently attached to another high-profile action movie titled The Wrecking Crew, which will be led by Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista.
