An Australian passenger said she felt a “sudden drop” when her Qatar Airways flight hit severe turbulence on Sunday. The Qatar Airways flight QR017 was travelling from Doha to Dublin when the incident occurred, injuring 12 passengers and crew members. Eight people were hospitalised after the flight. The incident comes five days after a British man died of a suspected heart attack and dozens of people were injured when a Singapore Airlines flight from London hit severe turbulence.

“I was hanging on a bit tight to my husband. “It was a really scary time.” Seven’s UK correspondent Ashlee Mullany also joined The Morning Show with more details about the flight. “Shaken passengers said the cabin crew had badly injured arms, some had bloodied faces,” Mullany said. “Some of the passengers who weren’t strapped in were thrown from their seats and hit the roof.
