Line of Duty actress Anna Maxwell Martin made the comment during an interview on The One Show

Line of Duty star Anna Maxwell Martin joked she might "never work again" after Welsh presenter Alex Jones helped to expose her unique method for remembering lines during an appearance on BBC's The One Show. Alongside co-host Roman Kemp, Alex delved into Anna's experiences on the Jed Mercurio-led series, particularly focusing on her strategies during intense interview scenes.

Alex queried Anna about her approach: "Didn't you discover a tactic when you did Line of Duty that helped when you were doing the big interviews?" To which Anna responded with a laugh: "I'll never work again now." She added: "No I did learn the interviews. I want to make that clear to Jed Mercurio and everyone at the BBC," but admitted: "I did think there's a lot of papers and files on the desk so I can just slot some things in."Anna disclosed that the production team eventually caught on to her tactics. "We had all the files for the first season. Then the second season the files were gone and I had been relying on the files.

In Line of Duty's fifth and sixth series, Anna played the pivotal role of DCS Patricia Carmichael, who harboured deep suspicions about Adrian Dunbar's character, Superintendent Ted Hastings, accusing him of being a "bent copper", reports Wales Online. The last time Line of Duty graced our screens was in 2021, and the sixth series of the show did not disappoint in terms of television ratings. The finale reached a peak of 13.1m viewers, capturing a 15.8% audience share in its final 15 minutes.Since then, fans of Line of Duty, which also stars Martin Compston and Vicky McClure, have been clamouring for more episodes.
